Naoyoshi Shimaya has been considering virtual worlds for over 10 years, developing a business plan in 1998 that led to the creation of Metabirds, the first metaverse developer in Japan. In addition to working with Japanese communities and companies to develop Second Life communities, he has started and run a management consulting company and an online advertising agency called Promo Lab.
